Poland: The issue of Sustainable Development as an inspiration for the competition presentation “How to Reform My Father’s Farm?”

Piotr Ulatowski, a student of the Upper-Secondary School Complex No. 2 in Łowicz, one of the beneficiaries of Call For Grants of the Rural Dear Agenda Project, became a SPECIAL LAUREATE of the 20th edition of the Polish nationwide competition: “How to Reform My Father’s Farm?”, organised by the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW) in Warsaw in cooperation with Robert Schuman and Konrad Adenauer Foundation.

The idea was inspired by the topic discussed by the Łowicz school during workshops organised for the students within the RURAL DEAR AGENDA project entitled: “The Principles of Buying, Fair Trade and Rational Consumption in the Light of Respecting Natural Environment and its Development”.
In his multimedia presentation “Act Locally, Think Globally”, prepared for the final, Piotr argued that responsible production of good quality food in harmony with nature is a chance for the environment, and most of all, a chance for Sustainable Development and standing up to consumerism. He also noted that such production was a chance for his father’s farm to achieve economic success.

Education for Sustainable Development, the objective of the Rural Dear project, found its recipients, the best example of whom is Piotr – a young man who tries to implement DE assumptions by studying and working in the rural area.
The tutor supporting Piotr throughout the competition was Ms Małgorzata Kosiorek, one of active participants of the pilot stage of the Rural Dear Agenda project.
